2024 Autumn Budget: how expats may be affected

On October 30th 2024, the UK Government announced the UK Budget and key tax changes for the year(s) ahead. Despite the doom and gloom headlines preceding the budget announcement, the UK remains a fairly tax-efficient place to be for expats.

In this section we explore the headlines and impacts for expats from the 2024 UK budget.

Pre-budget, there was a lot of speculation around some highly controversial tax changes, and over 70% of expats we asked we extremely nervous about what was going to be announced.

After the budget was announced, and with time to reflect, we brought together a panel of trusted experts from our partnership network to discuss the major (and minor) changes announced in the budget.

We also fielded a range of questions from expats that were put to our panel to ensure we answered the most important questions expats faced.

You can either watch the webinar in full (which was just over an hour long) or read the various summaries below, depending on which content is most relevant to you and your circumstances.

If you need further assistance understanding how the budget might affect you, request an introduction to a specialist using our free introduction service and we will ask one of our partners to arrange an initial discovery call to discuss your situation:

I had a very rapid response from both experts for expats & the partner & the information I needed was in the initial email & didn’t need further inquiries. But I was very impressed by their rapidity, expertise in giving me the necessary information. I will get in touch again if need be & will definitely give their references to others in need of such expertise!
